With spring at our doorstep, now’s the best time to start crossing some trails off of our hiking bucket list. Today we’ll focus on a southwestern Virginia favorite: the Virginia Creeper National Recreation Trail. While you don’t need to complete all 34.3 miles of this trek, you’ll surely feel accomplished if you do. The Virginia Creeper Trail is one of the most iconic rail-to-recreation trails in Virginia. Spanning across two counties — Abingdon and Damascus — this trek shows off some of the best views in Virginia.

While the trail is mostly known as a biking path, this multi-use trail is also perfect for hiking, strolling, horseback riding, fishing, and even people watching.
