Virginia isn’t a state that boasts a lot of cowboy history. That’s why you may be surprised to learn that there’s a cowboy-themed restaurant right here in the Old Dominion. Located in Centreville, Sweetwater Tavern is a casual and beloved eatery that hasn’t changed in decades (in the best possible way). And the best part of all? The restaurant brews its own delicious beer. So the next time you feel like experiencing a little bit of the Old West, head to Sweetwater Taven and don’t forget to wear your boots!
Welcome to Sweetwater Tavern! This popular dining spot belongs to a larger collection of restaurants in the Northern Virginia area known as the Great American Restaurants.
The moment you step inside, you'll feel like you've entered a saloon from the Old West. Decorative murals of canyons, festive lighting, and a cozy atmosphere all make dining at Sweetwater Tavern a memorable experience.
Plus, the menu is hard to beat. The kitchen offers a variety of classic American offerings infused with southwest flavor. Photographed below is the hickory-grilled fish, served over fresh tortillas and beans and corn.
Equally delicious is the ribeye steak with a loaded baked potato. Portions are generous and each plate pairs perfectly with one of the rotating beers on tap.
The restaurant is open daily for dinner and lunch, starting at 11:00 a.m. Visitors should note that the tavern is a popular spot on the weekends at dinnertime, so be sure to call ahead and make a reservation if you can.
