Today’s feature destination is a prime example: Sugar Hollow Reservoir. This relatively little-known body of water is absolutely stunning in color, plus, it features a waterfall dam and great opportunities for hiking. Sugar Hollow Reserve isn't exactly easy to get to; however, that's what makes it such a hidden gem and incredible hiking destination.
The parking area at Sugar Hollow Reserve is also fairly small. For more parking, continue along the dirt road for additional parking and access to the Sugar Hollow Trail and Blue Hole swimming area.
Despite being a hidden gem, the destination is still popular among locals. If you venture out to this beautiful reservoir, be sure to arrive early or go on a weekday to avoid the summer crowds.
When you arrive at the dam, you'll find a trail guide that showcases the area's various treks. Some hikes are more difficult than others, but no matter which trail you choose, you'll want to wear sturdy footwear.
A special permit is required for fishing during certain times of the year.
