The leaves are finally changing here in Virginia, and there’s no better way to appreciate them than a trip to Shenandoah National Park. Yet you don’t have to lace up those hiking boots – unless, of course, you want to! – because the iconic Skyline Drive will take you through the entire park from the comfort of your car. So whether you choose to drive the complete 105 miles or just a portion, you’re sure to get your fill of autumnal beauty.
If you've never experienced Shenandoah National Park during the fall season, you're missing out on the opportunity to see some of Virginia's finest fall foliage paired with exquisite mountain views.
There's a $20 entry fee upon arrival; however, there are select dates throughout the year when this fee is waved. Rest assured, though, the price is well worth these exquisite views.
Along the way, there are pull-offs and trailheads that will lead you into the woods. You don't have to be an avid hiker to enjoy these trails, many of which are relatively easy.
No matter your motivation for experiencing Skyline Drive in the fall, you'll find yourself completely enchanted by the natural landscape and its dazzling fall colors. Don't forget your camera!
