You might say that Virginia is the scenic overlook capital of the country. In fact, it’d be quite a challenge to find a rural road without an incredible scenic overlook. Even so, we’re nowhere close to tiring of them or taking them for granted. If you’re anything like me, you’ll still make time to pull over and take in the views even after years and years of living in this fine state. Here are 10 of those scenic overlooks that are sure to take your breath away.
This is without a doubt one of the best views of downtown Roanoke that you'll get, taken from the viewpoint of the iconic Roanoke Star on Mill Mountain.
Just at the top of Warm Springs Mountain you'll spot the turn-off for Dan Ingalls Overlook. And if you've got some extra time, the short trail will lead to an even more stunning panorama.
Just outside of Farmville, you can access the High Bridge Trail from several different spots. This unique bridge soars 125 feet above the Appomattox River.
If you can brave the 183 steps to the top of this observation tower in Dickenson County, you're in for a real treat.
These are just some of the endless options for breathtaking overlooks in Virginia. Looking for more beautiful scenery? Check out this article for some additional picture-worthy spots.
