Anyone who’s ventured to Cape Charles, Virginia can attest to the fact that the sand dunes there are nothing short of magical. We’ve covered the topic before, but today our focus is on one of the more obscure — and mesmerizing — attractions in this area. Wind currents cause breathtaking patterns in the sand that can only be captured in the moment. Fortunately, we have some beautiful photographs of just a few of nature’s miniature sand sculptures. Take a look:
At the southern tip of the Delmarva Peninsula awaits a relatively hidden gem known as Savage Neck Dunes Natural Area Preserve.
You might even notice a shell or two scattered amidst these sand designs. You'll have to crouch down to the sand to appreciate all the detail. But that's half the fun!
So whether you're searching for these delicate designs or are simply there to enjoy the natural beauty of this 300-acre preserve, you'll cherish your time in this corner of Virginia.
