It’s a well-known fact that small towns are full of charm, yet there’s one small town in Virginia that may be home to something else altogether: Bigfoot. Now before you dismiss this as preposterous, take a look at this bizarre history and accounts of sightings in a little town known as Saltville. This beautiful Appalachian town may have something altogether bizarre hiding in the woods.
Most everyone is familiar with the legend of Bigfoot, a tall ape-like creature that many believe dwells in the deep woods of the Pacific Northwest.
In the Appalachian woods of Virginia, there have been various accounts of visitors spotting large, dark figures much taller than ordinary men and with unusual behavior. Sightings range from passive, faraway figures to creatures that hurl rocks at the spectator.
These stories came to light, and National attention, when Animal Planet visited the town of Saltville to get to the bottom of the matter. They were inspired by footage, shown below, of a tall, shadowy figure crossing the stream as a man on an ATV quickly approaches.
The crew called a meeting to Town Hall and invited anyone who had alleged firsthand experience with the mythological creature to come forward and tell their story. The fact that there were several believable accounts certainly poses a question: could Bigfoot really be out there?
The phenomenon of Bigfoot sightings is certainly not uncommon, yet it seems intriguing that so many have occurred in this otherwise unsuspecting woods of Virginia.
