And unless you had lessons as a child or somehow learned how to ice skate later in life, chances are you’re a beginner. And it can be a bit scary getting into an ice rink with more advanced skaters, especially for the kids, who are not yet fully comfortable on skates. Luckily, in past years, Reston Town Center Ice Rink offered private learn-to-skate lessons for beginner skaters. For a fee, you would be assigned one of the ice skating coaches at the rink. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing COVID restrictions, it is not clear if these lessons are being offered this year, but you can contact the ice skating rink to inquire about the lessons. The good news is, if the lessons are unavailable, there are beginner skates for rent. They are double-bladed and flat-edge skates that will help novice skaters to get comfortable with walking on the ice.
