Disturbing sites in Virginia are not difficult to come by. With abandoned buildings, houses that have stood for centuries, and various other haunted landmarks, there’s a strong chance of a paranormal encounter here in Virginia. Yet nothing quite tops the Renaissance Faire, an abandoned landmark deep in the woods that stands like something from a horror movie. Fortunately, this spot is nearly impossible to visit. Simply learning of its existence might give you a chill.
The Renaissance Faire saw its first year of operation in 1996, when it was built on land near Fredericksburg that was once owned by George Washington's family.
There's nothing inherently scary about the Renaissance Faire. In fact, it was quite popular in its prime, when knights and ladies dressed in their finest would meander the festival grounds.
Stone towers stretched to the sky as visitors enjoyed a recreated version of Renaissance England complete with ales, lively music, and all sorts of festivities.
One can't help but wonder when some of these structures will deteriorate altogether, leaving behind only a memory of these positively fascinating Fairegrounds. Can't you just imagine this site as the setting for a horror movie?
Please note: This site is considered private property and therefore is inaccessible to the public. Since you can’t see it in person, we’ve included drone footage courtesy of YouTube user Blu Sky to give you an idea of its setting.
Have you heard of this unique yet disturbing site in Virginia? Did you by chance visit the Renaissance Faire in its heyday? If so, be sure to share your experiences with us!
