Every day we bring you images, fun facts, and stories about Virginia. The resounding consensus is that, yes, we do live in the most amazing state. Fortunately, many of our readers confirm that by sending in absolutely amazing photographs from all over Virginia.
And it’s time to honor, not just the beauty of the Old Dominion, but the incredible talent of these photographers. Below you’ll find some of the most incredible works we’ve received. If you’ve submitted something that is not shown here, don’t worry, we’d like to continue bringing you feature articles every week that showcase our home state talent – so there will be more! But if you haven’t submitted a photo and would like to, be sure to refer to the instructions at the bottom of the article. In the meantime, hats off to Virginia’s talent and her breathtaking beauty!
1. Sunset at Blackrock Summit in the Shenandoah National Park, submitted by Wahoo Photography.
According to the photographer (via the National Park Service) this stunning image was captured atop rocks that once formed a seabed that predates the Appalachian Mountains. The depth of Virginia's history continues to amaze me.
2. A breathtaking shot of Falling Springs Falls in Covington, submitted by Shonda Bourne.
The image is picture perfect, but I love the backstory that the photographer provides. This historic home sits empty, awaiting renovations, after the original owner was sent to prison for an epic gun fight in the Hillsville Courthouse.
5. Yankee Horse Ridge along the Blue Ridge Parkway at MP 34.4, submitted by Jeff Hammond of Landscapes of the Blue Ridge.
This incredible moment was captured at Humpback Rocks near Wayneboro. If you haven't been to the rocks, this picture should be all the motivation you need.
7. Sunrise in Cape Charles, submitted by Michael Kushner.
What an amazing harvest. The North Stafford Farmer's Market is open from April through November and is the perfect way to support your local farmers and growers.
16. Sharp Top Mountain at the Peaks of Otter in Bedford has never looked so beautiful as in this photo submitted by Landscapes of the Blue Ridge.
We would love to feature your photographs every week so please send us your best photos of Virginia! If you would like to submit an image, you can email it to submit-va@onlyinyourstate.com or post it to the Only In Virginia Facebook page. We look forward to hearing from you!
