It’s perhaps the most famous of Virginia’s trails, with sweeping views of the surrounding landscape. In fact, it’s consistently rated as one of the most beautiful natural attractions in Virginia. However, this beauty comes at a price. Not only is Old Rag Mountain Loop one of the most difficult treks in the state, but it’s also quite possibly the most dangerous hike in Virginia. Technically challenging, this trail requires both experience and grit.
