Virginia’s natural beauty is simply unparalleled. If you need convincing, look no further than our small towns. These communities are not only rich with history, but also gorgeous landscapes. For its stunning mountain views, green rolling hills, and noteworthy natural features, Hot Springs may just be the most naturally beautiful town in the state. To be fair, the surrounding countryside is just as picturesque, which is why we’ll include the greater Bath County area in the following photographs. As you scroll through them, you’ll be transported to a place of pristine natural beauty. You might just find yourself planning your trip to Virginia’s breathtaking western Highlands region for a remarkable getaway.
The scenic U.S. Route 220, also known as Sam Snead Highway, is the main route that leads into the town of Hot Springs.
Hot Springs is named for the area's remarkable natural feature, its warm mineral springs. You can visit the thermal baths that Thomas Jefferson himself believed held powerful healing properties.
Since the 1700s, folks from all over have traveled to this tiny town to experience the natural beauty of the resort, which lends itself to plenty of outdoor activities.
Douthat State Park is a beloved spot among locals. With its gorgeous trails, mountain views and recreational activities on the water, it's no mystery why.
Douthat also features a gorgeous manmade swimming beach. Whether you feel like taking a dip or sitting in the soft sand, this spot is picture-perfect for an afternoon picnic.
