While Virginia’s altitudes may seem modest when compared with other states – after all, we’re located right on the coast – there are some impressively tall locations to explore. For example, did you realize the highest lake east of the Mississippi is right here in Virginia? Tucked away in southwest Virginia awaits a stunning mountain lake with unforgettable views. Here’s more on the Giles County Mountain Lake and its beautiful surrounding area:
Aptly named, Mountain Lake is an exquisite natural attraction situated on top of Salt Pond Mountain.
Since 2002, the lake has experienced the effects of dry seasons and its levels have lowered significantly. Depending on the amount of rainfall, the lake typically covers about 50 acres.
