Here in Virginia, we take special pride in our oyster harvest. In fact, there are over 134 unique oyster farms in the state, each one adding value to the local economy. Moreover, oysters just so happen to be one of the most delicious delicacies you’ll find in the Old Dominion. Don’t believe us? Simply head to the Urbanna Oyster Festival in Virginia, one of the state’s longest-running food festivals. It’s been a local favorite since 1958 and if you’ve never been, you owe it to yourself to stop by.
Save the date! The iconic Urbanna Oyster Festival is on the calendar for November 3rd and 4th, 2023.
Admission is free to the festival since it's a pay-as-you-go event. That means you'll pay each individual vendor for whatever goodies they may be selling.
As you can imagine, most of the food on offer is oysters. But you may just be surprised by how many varieties of oysters there are: fried, baked, grilled, raw, oyster shooters, and more!
In addition to oysters, the festival is also a celebration of Virginia's local wine and beer scene. Those who are of age are invited to try a variety of local grapes and brews.
Looking for an even more elevated oyster festival experience? You can sign up for VIP tickets, which include perks such as beer tastings, wine tastings, oyster tastings, private restrooms, a commemorative poster, and more.
