If you’ve lived in Virginia long enough, you’ve likely sampled some fine Virginia ham. It’s a staple around here and can be found just about everywhere, from fancy restaurants to hole-in-the-wall sandwich spots. Today’s destination is an old fashioned country store with a lot to offer. Layne’s Country Store is famous for its ham and cheese sandwiches, but you don’t have to be a fan of ham to enjoy this charming shop.
Since 1954, Layne's Country Store has welcomed travelers from near and far to taste some of the finest produce, deli meats, and other homemade goods from the Lexington area.
If it's your first time visiting, be sure to try one of their famous ham and cheese sandwiches. Not much has changed about this classic combo in decades (in the best way!).
If you're not in the mood for a sandwich, you'll be delighted by the wonderfully bizarre novelty items, such as Uncle Steve's Classic American Beer Jelly.
No matter the reason you stop by Layne's, you're bound to leave with a few souvenirs and some great memories of your visit.
Have you ever visited Layne’s Country Store before? Did you order anything from the deli menu? We’d love to hear all about your experiences — be sure to join in on the conversation by leaving a comment below! For more information about Layne’s Country Store, you can follow along on Facebook.
