Virginia has so much to discover, doesn’t it? Whether you’re fascinated by architecture, natural wonders, or inspiring vistas, you’ll find no shortage of ways to feel awe-inspired here in the Old Dominion. And usually, you can spot multiple wonders in a single day of driving. Today’s feature adventure is a trip to the mountains of Virginia, where you’ll discover a covered bridge, a rushing waterfall, a stately resort, and a breathtaking overlook — four impressive landmarks in Virginia all in one relatively quick drive!
1. Dan Ingalls Overlook

The first stop on this gorgeous day trip is the Dan Ingalls Overlook. Located along Route 39, this beautiful vista is the perfect way to inspire you to explore the mountains. Have some time to spare? You can hike the short-and-sweet Ingalls Overlook Trail, which will lead you to another beautiful mountain view.
2. The Omni Homestead Resort

One of the most iconic places to stay in Virginia, the Omni Homestead Resort is a vision! Even if you aren't staying here, this hotel is absolutely worth seeing. The beginnings of the hotel date back to 1766, and it's even rumored to be haunted. Ghosts or not, there's no denying the beauty of this gorgeous resort.
Next up, a picture-perfect waterfall. Falling Spring Falls isn't the tallest waterfall in Virginia -- that title belongs to Crabtree Falls. It is, however, a vision to behold. You can see this waterfall from the designated parking lot, so you won't be driving out of your way to experience it.

And finally, we've arrived at our fourth and final destination of the day: Humpback Bridge. It's one of the oldest of its kind in the country, and visitors can still admire it to this day. Virginia's oldest covered bridge has a unique hump shape, and it's definitely worth seeing in person.
