Some things never go out of style. Classic, homemade barbecue is one of them. For proof of this, look no further than the famous King’s Barbecue in Virginia. Since 1946, this legendary restaurant has been serving up some of the best southern eats you can hope for. The food is so delicious, in fact, that many have been known to travel quite a distance to enjoy it. If you’re a true barbecue fan, you owe it to yourself to make at least one trip to King’s.

Welcome to King's Barbecue! Since 1946, this local business has been dishing up some of the finest barbecue in the region.
The restaurant was opened by the King brothers, who had experience working in the barbecue restaurant and had grown to appreciate the art of smoking meats and crafting delicious sauces.
John King found work at age 17 at Alford’s Barbecue, a famous log building restaurant famous for its sauces. When Alford's closed its doors, the King brothers went into business and opened up a location on West Washington Street. Money was tight, so the family sold just one smoked pork shoulder at a time. That was enough to gain notoriety, and before long, visitors near and far had learned of the delicious smoked meats at King's Barbecue.

Today, King's Barbecue is famous for its distinct Southside Virginia BBQ flavor, which incorporates vinegar, tomato, mustard, and other mouthwatering seasonings.
Diners can choose from chicken, beef, or pork, but it's the pork shoulder that remains one of the most popular menu items. The pork is from Smithfield and is slow-cooked for 12-14 hours using white oak logs.
No matter what you order, don't forget to try a side of the famous made-to-order onion rings. Perfectly crunchy and sweet, these will make for the perfect appetizer.
