Next up on our list is the Meems Bottom Covered Bridge, which is a bit off the beaten path but so worth the detour. Measuring 204 feet, it's the longest covered bridge in Virginia, and one of the last that supports traffic. In other words, you can drive your vehicle right through it! How cool is that?

You can enjoy some delicious craft beer, live music, and some seriously mouthwatering food, like this bowl of nachos. Plus, if you happen to visit on the weekend, you can sign up for a tour of the unique brewing facility.

Last but certainly not least, Natural Bridge State Park concludes our 1-81 road trip through Virginia. This breathtaking natural attraction is one of the most famous in the state, and it's no mystery why. The geological formation towers 215 feet high and measures 90 feet across. the surrounding gorge has been carved away by Cedar Creek, a tributary of the James River. While you're there, be sure to explore the trail system and stop by the Monacan Indian Living History Exhibit.
