High Bridge Trail is an iconic attraction in Virginia, and one we like to feature often. Simply put, it’s one of the most unique hikes in all of Virginia. Not only is it appropriate for all ages, but it also offers an interactive way to explore Virginia’s extensive history. So if you’re planning out your weekend trips for this summer, be sure to add a trip to High Bridge to the list. You won’t be disappointed!
High Bridge Trail is an iconic landmark near Farmville, Virginia that stretches for 31 miles. There are several access points, one of which has an iconic LoveWorks sign.
The trail was one a railway bed, which accounts for its wide and flat characteristics. During the Civil War, High Bridge Trail saw two Civil War Battles.
The crown jewel of High Bridge Trail State Park is, of course, the iconic High Bridge. Spanning 2,400 feet in length, the bridge towers 125 feet above the Appomattox River.
This multi-use trail is beloved by bikers, who can complete the entire trail in an afternoon. You may also spot a horseback rider or two along the way.
So whether you're looking for a good trek, an interactive look at history, or some beautiful scenery, you'll be thankful you made the journey to High Bridge.
