If it’s peace and quiet you crave, there are few destinations more rewarding than a secluded beach. Fortunately, Virginia has plenty of these just waiting to be discovered. In addition to our enjoyment, these beaches offer a place for us to appreciate nature at its finest. Grandview Nature Preserve, located in Hampton, is described as a favorite beach by many Virginians. With its picturesque shorelines and seashells strewn about, it’s no mystery why.
Grandview Nature Preserve is a quiet beach on the Chesapeake Bay that makes for the perfect day trip destination.
The entrance to the preserve is through a residential neighborhood, and there is only street parking available. However, the half-mile walk to the sand is well worth it when you discover this peaceful landscape.
The moment you spot the water, you'll understand that this beach is truly special. A preserve, by definition, means that there is minimal human interference here. Wildlife and natural beauty abound.
You'll even notice an abundance of seashells on the coast. Collecting them can be a fun activity for you and your little ones. Be sure to leave them where they are, though, to ensure the natural state of the beach is left untouched.
And on that note, should you come across any trash or litter on the beach, be sure to pick it up and take it with you. It's important to think of all the critters big and small who rely on this fragile ecosystem!
Please note that there are no facilities on this beach. You can learn more about planning your visit to Grandview by clicking here.
