There’s a lot to admire about Virginia’s farmlands. Beautiful and abundant, these sites help fuel agrotourism and provide delicious produce and goods. Today’s feature destination is a modest farm that makes a big impact. Georges Mill Farm, located in Lovettsville, is an eighth-generation family dairy farm in Virginia that produces delicious products such as goat cheese, pastured eggs, and pork. Visit this farm with the entire family – just be sure to make an appointment first! – and you’ll quickly discover what makes it so special.
The year was 1750. A man by the name of John George settled the area now known as Georges Mill Farm. Over 250 years later, his descendants continue to honor the land through farming.
In 2013, the family decided to make cheesemaking the heart of their operation. The process relies on goats, who live happily on the farm with nearly 50 acres to roam freely.
The best way to make an appointment is by calling (571) 442 - 7444. You can also contact the farm by clicking here.

Another way to experience Georges Mill is to stop by the farm store, a modest yet delightful building where you'll find an impressive variety of farm-fresh products and produce.
And the best part of all? The farm store is open 24-7! That's right: you can stop by at any time. The facility runs on the honor system, and the farm asks that you pay in cash or check.
Visiting the farm or the farm store is a great opportunity to stock up on cheese. Photographed below is Grey Ghost Tomme, a popular raw alpine-style cheese that's aged in a cave for at least three months.
So whether you've made an appointment to learn more about the farm or are simply stopping by the store, you'll be delighted by your experience at Georges Mill.
