Alpacas are sweet, gentle animals that are typically bred for their soft, warm fiber used for making hats, scarves, blankets, and more. There’s a charming alpaca farm right here in Virginia that offers tours so you can meet these beautiful creatures in person. Check out Fox Wire Farm Alpacas:
Welcome to Fox Wire Farm! This 200-acre farm is home to more than 100 Huacaya alpacas, along with many other farm animals, and you're definitely going to want to pay this place a visit soon.
Learn all about alpacas and find out how the farm cares for them. You'll learn about their fiber and how it's used, and can observe them as they cavort and play in the field.
What could possibly be more adorable than an alpaca? A baby alpaca, of course! The babies are called crias, and they're just 15-20 pounds at birth. You'll get to visit one of the maternity barns to see the little crias.
The fun doesn't stop at the alpacas - Fox Wire Farm is home to many other animals, too. You'll meet the miniature horse, Stella, as well as the three miniature donkeys that live here: Peepers, Gizmo, and Betty Boop.
Before you head home, pay a visit to the farm's store, where you can browse the large selection of clothing made from alpaca fibers. You'll find everything from socks to sweaters here...
To reserve your spot on the tour, give the farm a call at 757-707-5052.
