The past decade has seen an incredible expansion of the dining scene here in Virginia. Seemingly small towns are now critically acclaimed foodie destinations, and it’s a trend we don’t expect will stop anytime soon. In fact, a historically rural and oftentimes overlooked region of the state is now making headlines for its cuisine. While it’s always been on the map for hikers, outdoor lovers, and history buffs, the Shenandoah Valley of western Virginia is now calling the name of food lovers, too. So take a look at some of the fine dining and authentic cuisine you can look forward to enjoying the next time you visit this lovable region:
The Shenandoah Valley is known for its green pastures, gentle rolling hills, and the proximity of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Relatively few people know about the other major draw to this corner of Virginia: the food.
In addition to serving killer coffee drinks, this spot also mades an incredible array of croissants from scratch. Folks swear by these flaky pastries, which could rival just about any in France.

Next on the list is an establishment by the name of The Harvest Table in Meadowville. It's here you'll find all sorts of delicious southern staples, with a local twist.
And by local, we mean that nothing is served here unless it was grown two miles of the farm. It's a farm-to-table paradise tucked away in the mountains.

Few people have visited the tiny town of St. Pauls, which is nestled in southwestern Virginia. Fewer still have stepped inside the relatively new restaurant, Milton's.
This renovated hotel restaurant could impress just about anyone with its creative menu. For something truly decadent, you'll want to order the All American Patty Melt served with buffalo sauce, provolone cheese, and toasted sourdough bread.

Last, but certainly not least, we arrive in downtown Abingdon. If you happen to be in town in the morning, you can look forward to the breakfast or brunch of your dreams.
White Birch is known for its fresh juices and smoothies, but they've also figured out how to serve a mean breakfast. Below you'll see a skillet-served Dutch puff pancake with home fries, bacon, and a fried egg. Wow!
