With summer drawing near, there’s one place that’s on everyone’s mind: the beach.
You may not have realized that Virginia has tons of beaches, and they aren’t necessarily along the coast. Head straight to the mountainous Bath County and you’ll find a delightful state park known as Douthat. Complete with a lake and man-made beach, the entire set up of this beautiful natural area could rival the coast. Plus, it’s not nearly as crowded as the beach.
Tucked away in the Allegheny Mountains of Virginia awaits a beloved state park with over 4,500 acres to explore.
Every corner of the park offers a new adventure, and this time of year, most folks are headed straight for the beach. Don't be fooled by the fact that this shoreline is manmade; it's every bit as relaxing as the coast.
You and the kids will love splashing around in the surf, swimming in the cool and shallow waters just beyond the sand, and even swimming out to the floating diving board.
Even better, there's a lifeguard on duty to ensure added safety for all of the swimmers. Pack a picnic, lounge chairs, and plenty of sunscreen, and you'll be prepared for a full day of fun at the beach.
Address: 14239 Douthat State Park Road, Millboro, VA, 24460.
