This beautiful gorge, located about 20 miles north of Lexington, is a popular summer destination among the locals, yet relatively undiscovered otherwise. So if you’d like to swim in cool, crisp water and enjoy an idyllic afternoon full of scenery, we have just the place in mind.
Welcome to the beautiful Goshen Pass! Formed by the Maury River, this three-mile stretch is ideal for nature enthusiasts of all kinds.
The large rocks within this beautiful stretch of the river create a series of natural swimming pools in Virginia that you'll have a blast wading through. Even in the heart of summer, the water temperature is always refreshing.
Just be sure to wear proper foot attire and be mindful of slippery rocks and rapids. River conditions are constantly changing, so be sure to exercise caution if you plan on swimming, and never go alone.
One of the most popular is the Goshen Pass Loop, also known as the Chambers Trail. It starts at a swinging bridge and climbs upwards to a gorgeous overlook.
