Many people native to Virginia are surprised to learn that our state is home to what has been deemed “the Grand Canyon of the South.” The Breaks is located in southwestern Virginia, right on the Kentucky border. The impressive five-mile gorge invites all kinds of activity, and perhaps none more rewarding than a good old fashioned hike. So if you’re not quite up to the task of trekking through the real Grand Canyon, the trail at Breaks Interstate Park is a great place to start your canyon adventures.
