No small town in Virginia is without its eccentricities and unique attractions. Yet there’s one that stands above the rest — quite literally. The community of Burke’s Garden is situated atop a collapsed mountain and needless to say, it’s worth a visit. Here’s more about what gorgeous natural area in Virginia has to offer:
When viewed from an aerial perspective, it’s no mystery why Burke’s Garden has been nicknamed "God’s Thumbprint."
What’s left is considered to be the most fertile land in the state. It’s also the highest valley in the area, due to these incredibly unique circumstances.
Once you set foot atop this luscious green space, you may feel as though you’ve arrived to another world. Rolling green hills and farmland make for a postcard-like landscape that evokes simpler times.
For a firsthand experience of farm life, you can stop by the nearby Sandy Head Ostrich Farm. Visitors can learn about sustainable farming all while admiring ostriches, emu, and geese.
After a day of exploring this scenic small town, you can head over to Seven Restaurant in Tazewell for one of the most delicious steak dinners you can imagine.
So whether you're enchanted by the picturesque scenery or the fascinating geology, you'll be glad you made the trip to this corner of southwestern Virginia.
