Virginia is filled with impressive architecture. Centuries-old buildings that date back to the Colonial era and modern buildings alike have a way of inspiring awe and wonder. One area where incredible architecture is truly on display is on university campuses. Head to Virginia Tech, for example, and you’ll notice a collection of stately and strong stone buildings. These limestone blocks created a neo-Gothic-style campus reminiscent of Oxford, Cambridge, and perhaps even the fictional Hogwarts. Virginia Tech was established in October 1872. But you could easily be forgiven for thinking the campus was much, much older, due to its impressive stonework.

The earliest buildings on campus were actually made from brick, and it wasn't until later that they were renovated to stately stone between 1891 and 1907.
