Is there anything better than a good old-fashioned country store? Well, how about a country store just steps away from a lookout tower? Whether you’re hoping to pick up some local goodies or are looking for a change in perspective, you’ll love all that this two-in-one destination offers. Here’s more on Big Walker Lookout Tower and BW Country Store in Wytheville, Virginia — a match made in heaven.
Tucked away in the Blue Ridge Highlands of Virginia awaits an attraction that belongs at the top of your fall itinerary: Big Walker Lookout Tower.
Standing at 100 feet tall, the tower offers unparalleled views of the surrounding valley and mountains. There's a $6 admission fee to climb to the top but trust us, it's worth it!
Legend has it that the route where the tower and store are located was used by Molly Tynes, who warned the nearby town of Wytheville of the invading Union Army during the Civil War.

During a fall day, it's a breathtaking way to appreciate the different shades of foliage.
Sadly, the original country store building burned down in 2003. The one you'll find today is the rebuild, with every bit as much charm and character as the first.
So the next time you're looking for an adventure with unbeatable views and lots of local charm, you'll be glad you stopped by this road-trip-worthy destination.
