To reach the Bald Knob Parking Lot, you'll take Mountain Lake Road (VA-700) for 7 miles and you'll find a gravel parking lot near the intersection of VA-613 and Mountain Lake Outfitters.
The trail may be short, but it's by no means an easy excursion. In just 0.4 miles, you'll gain nearly 500 feet in elevation!

There's no need to rush, though. Take your time as you climb and be sure to stop and notice all the lovely scenery along the way. The forest is filled with wildflowers in the spring, summer, and early fall.
