Hiking is one of the most beloved pastimes here in Virginia. Whether you prefer swampy coastal terrain or high-altitude mountain treks, you’re bound to find a trail you love. However, sometimes committing to a whole day of hiking can be daunting. If you’re in the mood for gorgeous scenery but don’t want to spend the entire day in the woods, fret not. The Bald Knob Trail is a short-and-sweet hike that promises major payoffs when it comes to scenery. Take a look at what this magical trail has to offer:
Located within the pristine Mountain Lake Conservancy is a gorgeous trail that packs a mean punch in just 0.8 miles.
Though short, the trail is considered to be moderate due to the immediate incline and somewhat rocky terrain. Rest assured, though, that your effort will be well rewarded.
When you arrive at the rocky staircase, you'll know that you've just about finished the hike. Just up the stairs awaits a panoramic view that could rival any in Virginia.
Hikers also report that this trail is wonderful for spotting both wildlife and wildflowers, particularly in the summer. Because the trail is less than a mile round-trip, you'll have plenty of time to admire the flora and fauna at every turn.
