Virginia is home to countless festivals, fairs, and traveling events. Yet few people realize there’s one fair that never left town: the abandoned Virginia Renaissance Faire. Located in Fredericksburg, the Renaissance Faire was once an attempt to re-create a medieval square where folks could travel back in time and enjoy all kinds of festivities. Yet, since 1999, the structures have been left to decay and are slowly being reclaimed by nature. The photos below provide a fascinating insight into this bizarre Virginia attraction.

Please note: the Renaissance Faire should not be visited, as it’s located on private property. Trespassers will be subject to fines.
