Every state has its own personality. A lot of it comes from a mix of geography, history and culture – but mostly its a mix of that crazy characters that make up that place you call home. Virginia is no exception. We’ve got our fair share of quirks and oddities, but hey, that’s what makes us Virginians. So please pass that gravy and be sure to tell my second cousin on my mother’s side that I said hello….
22. Gravy is an acceptable condiment for just about anything.
21. You still say, “Yes, Ma’am”, even when the person is younger than you and it annoys them. And you do it because you can picture your mother’s face if you didn’t.
11. You know the difference between a first cousin, second cousin and first cousin twice-removed. But if you forget, don't worry. Someone in your family will explain it to you at length.
7. Camouflage is a color. It can be used for shoes, hats, skirts, shirts, pants, purses or furniture. I guess you just never know when you’ll want to be invisible.
Gotta love Virginia – quirks and all. Because, really, at the end of the day, there’s nowhere I’d rather call home. What are your favorite things about Virginia that other people just don’t get?
