There are few better places to hike than the Green Mountains of Vermont. With expansive views from the highest vertical point in the state to challenging and varied terrain, Mt. Mansfield is deserving of its hiking pedigree, and it’s not just for endurance hikers, either; there are plenty of hiking options for folks looking for something a bit calmer and relaxed. Let’s take a look at some of the great hiking options in Vermont at Underhill State Park.
Views from the top of Mt. Mansfield (pictured here) are some of the best panoramic shots you'll find in Vermont. With an elevation of 4,393 feet, gaze out over the Green Mountains and Mt. Mansfield State Forest from the highest vantage point in Vermont.
Underhill State Park, a favorite among Vermonters and travelers, is enclosed in the vast Mt. Mansfield State Forest, which features two ski resorts and many hiking, camping, and swimming options.
There are several great hiking trails for all ages at the Underhill State Park. The famed and challenging Sunset Ridge Trail is our pick for the best hike in Vermont; check out the AllTrails description of the hike here.
A less exhausting but also fabulous trail is the Long Trail Nose to Chin hike which leads you to the summit of Mt. Mansfield and is slightly less than three miles. This hike is great for hikers who are looking for spectacular views but don't wish to hike for long to reach the peak. Check out the AllTrails review of the hike.
