Vermonters can be creatures of habit, so naturally there are a few things that we continue to do. Whether it’s an annual events or daily habits, here are a few traditions in VT that you’ll catch us doing more than once.
1. We pick our own berries by the quart as soon as they're ripe.
And what we don't eat, we freeze to use throughout the year.
2. A trip to the Tunbridge World's Fair
Always 10 days after Labor Day, this great fair is on it's 146th year! Don't miss it from September 14-17, 2017.
3. Snow day rituals
Vermonters are pretty tough, so when we get the rare snow day, we know exactly what we're going to do.
4. Green Up Day
This is the day when we all pitch in and clean up our beautiful state after a long, harsh winter.
5. Pumpkin picking
We will take as much time as we need to find the perfect pumpkin in the whole patch.
6. Cutting your own tree from the farm
Much like the pumpkins, we head to our favorite forest or Christmas tree farm each winter to choose and cut the perfect tree for the holidays.
7. We'll wear shorts if it's over 50 degrees.
No matter the month, cold is just a state of mind.
8. When you open your local paper, the police blotter is the first thing you read.
Only In Your State/Kristin Grimes
It's sometimes has more news than the rest of the edition.
9. 802 Pride!
When someone is giving you their phone number, you write 802 before they start.
10. Mud season rules
Vermonters don't bother washing their cars until the roads have dried and the season is over.
