While larger towns and cities in Vermont may gather the most tourists, there are a few smaller towns that fly under the radar. Grafton may not be known by all Vermonters, but it has everything to make it a town worth visiting. From fat bike trails and snowshoe excursions to live music and tasty grub, have yourself a fantastic weekend in this amazing winter wonderland.
Grafton is a small town in Southern Vermont with a population of just under 700.
It's nestled in the mountains and is home to many beautifully-restored historic buildings.
When visiting, we recommend staying at the Grafton Inn.
Founded in 1801, the historic Grafton Inn is a classic Vermont country inn full of charm. It's conveniently located on Main Street, so you can be within walking distance of all the shops and restaurants. The inn is also located near a number of trails and the Grafton Trails and Outdoor Center.
After you check-in, hit the town running by going to the Grafton Outdoor Center and taking advantage of all of the snow-friendly activities they have to offer.
Let the adrenaline take over on the tube runs.
The Grafton Outdoor Center has an awesome hill that's perfect for downhill snow tubing fun.
Hop on the fat bikes for an adventure-filled ride...
...or take things slow on the snowshoes and enjoy the view.
If you don't have snowshoes, a pair of skis, snow tubes, or fat bikes, don't worry! The Grafton Outdoor Center has plenty of equipment available to rent.
Head over to Main Street for lunch at MKT.
MKT is an adorable general store near the Grafton Inn. You can grab a bite to eat and do a little bit of shopping while you're there.
Find some awesome local goods at The Mercantile.
Drive through Kidder Hill Covered Bridge.
End the day with dinner and live music at the eclectic Phelps Barn Pub.
The pub is located right next to the Grafton Inn making it the perfect place to stop before by before hitting the hay.
