As New Englanders, we sometimes take for granted how good we’ve got it when it comes to seafood. With the Atlantic Ocean just over 3 hours away and Lake Champlain nearby, we’re spoiled with all the fresh fish available for restaurants to source from.
It would be impossible to just name one restaurant as the best, but Shanty on the Shore sure is a great choice for fabulous seafood with a casual vibe. If you’re looking for a delicious seafood dinner that won’t break the bank, head over to this cozy shoreside spot!
Head over to Burlington, Vermont to dine at Shanty on the Shore.
Shanty on the Shore sits right on the shore of Burlington Bay, overlooking Lake Champlain. While the shanty itself has roots dating back to 1833 when it was erected as a store, it re-opened its doors as a Shanty on the Shore restaurant in 1985.
Shanty on the Shore offers a full menu complete with appetizers to get your lunch or dinner started. In addition to calamari, they offer escargot, mussels, and soft shell clam steamers.
It's like having Mexican food, but with a New England twist. These tacos contain Haddock, shredded cabbage, pickled onions, Sriracha Mayo, and Korean BBQ.
As the temps start to drop, you may not be in the mood for cold-served seafood meals. Luckily, Shanty on the Shore has plenty of hot seafood and non-seafood options available to warm you right up!
And of course, it's not a real seafood joint without the lobster rolls.
End your night with a beautiful sunset over Burlington Bay. It's a great spot to go with the whole family and kids will love watching the boats come in and out of the harbor.
