Who says island life is only for places along the ocean’s coast? Not us! Vermont has a beautiful set of islands and they are incredible to visit. Burton Island State Park is one of the special places in the Champlain Islands with it’s remote location, camping sites, hiking trails and charming bistro. Let’s take a look at this remote island in VT that you’re absolutely going to love.

The Island Runner passenger ferry takes people and bikes between Kamp Kill Kare and Burton Island several times a day. It operates from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend and takes about 10 minutes.

That's right, this is a boat-only island. No cars allowed!

Luckily that plan was dismissed and a marina was built instead. Ferry service started in the 1980s and Burton Island has remained car-free.
