Grab your flapper gear and slip into your best pinstripe suit – this Prohibition-themed train ride in Vermont promises to be all that jazz and more. Here’s what you need to know to ride on this speakeasy-style train.
A ride on this jazz train in Vermont is the definition of a roaring good time. It’s pretty much the best way to experience the 1920s on rails.
Hosted by the Green Mountain Railroad, Cocktails on the Rails delivers cocktail and jazz in a sumptuous vintage rail car. In fact, it’s Burlington’s only mobile jazz lounge.
As soon as you step on board, you’ll slip back in time. The seats on this lounge car are made of buttery leather and the style of the train feels like something from another era.
During the excursion, you’ll be treated to live music and yummy drinks as you enjoy rolling scenery and tasty hors-d’oeuvres. It’s the perfect romantic date or fun group outing.
All riders must be 21 years or older to ride. The train leaves from Burlington at 5:30 p.m. on select dates. Only a small number of tickets are sold per trip, as this is meant to be an intimate experience.
When buying your tickets, you’ll be able to view a map of the lounge car and select whether you’d like to be on the "lake side" or "country side" of the car. There are also a few seats right by the stage.
The Cocktails on the Rails experience is available from August 17 to October 20, 2019. There’s limited availability on this train, so be sure to book soon!
Tickets are $60 per person. Visit the Green Mountain Railroad website for more information about the Cocktails on the Rails experience and to book your tickets. If you love trains, check out some of our favorite train rides and themed attractions in Massachusetts.
