Vermont is loaded with extraordinary hiking trails, but not all of them are well suited for a family outing. For an outdoor excursion that is perfect for all the members of your family, take a walk on the Mill Trail in Stowe. The trail is a little over two miles and easy to navigate. Enjoy a leisurely stroll or a brisker stride that takes you straight to a gorgeous waterfall that even the kids will find entrancing.
The Mill Trail can be found on Stowe Land Trust property. It is easy to navigate, has beautiful scenery, and is just a little over 2 miles long.
The area was once the site of a former saw mill. It also houses a cabin built in 1935 that was one of the first roadside inns that required you to ski in.
Much of the trail is crushed stone, making it a simple hike for even the shorter legs of small children. The trail leads to Bingham Falls in an easier route than the steep path that leads to the more popular side of this waterfall.
Cross footbridges and admire twisted trees in the fairytale like setting of the densely wooded property. Hear the sound of the rushing falls before they peek into view.
Find the parking area for the trailhead on Notchbrook Rd., Stowe, VT 05672. Learn more by visiting the Stowe Land Trust website.
