If you love sleeping under the stars then you know Vermont has plenty of wonderful camping options. One of our favorite spots to pitch a tent during the summer is Jamaica State Park Campground. Located on the bank of the West River, this picturesque wooded retreat has beautiful scenery, lovely campsites, and very own natural swimming hole.
Located on a bend of the West River, Jamaica State Park has 772 stunning acres. With so much territory to cover, you'll definitely want to stay for a few days.
The campground has 41 spacious tent/RV sites and 18 lean-to sites. The camping season runs from May 3 - Columbus Day Weekend.
The campsites are nestled in amongst the trees and some even have front row seats to views of the river.
Enjoy taking a relaxing hike on the old railroad bed trail along the West River. The easy flat flat trail is perfect for all abilities.
Tackle the two-mile Overlook trail to the summit of Little Ball Mountain to take in the scenic vistas.
Or make the journey to the scenic 125-foot cascading Hamilton Falls. This unique natural wonder is a true gem of the park.
After you're done exploring the trails, it's time to cool down with a swim. Descend the stairs to the Salmon Hole swimming area for a refreshing dip.
The clear waters of the West River offer plenty of refreshment on a hot summer day. Whether you're young or young at heart, you'll love splashing around in this swimming hole.
Finish off your day with a roaring campfire along the riverbank. After a day full of activity, you'll be ready for the relaxing glow of a fire before turning in for the night.
