Vermont is home to more than 50 state parks, and each one has its own unique beauty and attractions. Here’s a pretty park with an interesting history, a beautiful reservoir, and there’s plenty of hiking and recreation opportunities.
Little River State Park encompasses 850 acres on the shores of the Waterbury Reservoir in Waterbury County. The address of the park is 3444 Little River Rd.
Waterbury, Vermont 05676.
Explore Waterbury Reservoir by kayak, canoe, or motorized boat. Don't own a boat? Campers can rent boats from the park. If the weather's warm enough, you might want to take a dip - there are several spots to access the reservoir for swimming.
The reservoir also has excellent fishing and is home to rainbow trout, perch, small-mouthed bass and more. Anglers of all ages will love to spend the morning dropping a line in the water.
The park sits on the site of a village settled in the 1800s, and you can see some remnants of the community today. A flood took the lives of nearly 50 residents in the 1930s, and many are buried in the little cemetery here.

Stay overnight at the campground so you can enjoy more than one day at Little River State Park. The campground offers 81 tent sites, 20 lean-to sites, and 27 remote sites that are only accessible by boat.
Amenities here include modern restrooms with flush toilets, and most even offer hot showers. While the campsites don't have hookups for RVs, there is a dump station for your convenience.
