It doesn’t have to be Halloween to go ghost hunting in Vermont. This little state is full of paranormal activity if you choose to believe in ghosts. If you do, well these haunted streets in VT might be a little scary as you drive by places where ghosts have been reportedly spotted more than once. Take a ride along these streets… If you dare!
1. Mansion Drive, Bennington
Aptly named Mansion Drive, the former Edward Everett Estate is reportedly haunted. It's unclear who the ghosts are at this building which is part of Southern Vermont College. It could be Amy Everett, who mysteriously died soon after the home was built. Perhaps the ghost is Grace Everett, the second wife who didn't get along with Everett's children. Or maybe it's the ghost of Edward Everett himself.
2. North Main Street, St. Albans
This movie theater was formerly a jail and there are still remains of cells in the basement. The movie-loving ghost here has been seen wandering around and strange happenings take place in the projection room as well as doors being blown open... even though they are latched shut.
3. Covered Bridge Road, Stowe
If you drive on Covered Bridge Road, you have no choice but to pass through Emily's Bridge. This bridge is reportedly haunted by a girl named Emily who is apparently still upset about being jilted by her lover who failed to meet her there one fateful night.
4. Main Street, Stowe
Just around the corner from Emily's Bridge is the village of Stowe. This Main Street drag through the village has a few haunted sites, including the Green Mountain Inn. Here you'll find the friendly ghost named "Boots" who enjoys tap dancing on the roof of the hotel for all to hear.
5. Hildene Road, Manchester
The ghost of former first lady Mary Todd Lincoln still wanders the halls with one of her children at this stately home. Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln's son, Robert, built this home in 1905 and perhaps some of the Lincolns never left.
6. North Main Street, Waterbury
This charming Bed and Breakfast was formerly a tavern, a stagecoach stop, as well as a private residence along with being listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Room 2 is supposedly still haunted by Margaret Spencer, who it is believed to have died there.
7. Shelburne Road, Shelburne
With 39 exhibition buildings (25 of which are historic) a few of these places at the Shelburne Museum are bound to be haunted. The Dutton House in particular has had some strange sightings. So strange that some of the employees don't dare to go in!
8. Main Street and Beaver Meadow Road, Norwhch
On the corner of Main Street and Beaver Meadow Road stands the Norwich Inn. Mary "Ma" Walker and her husband purchased this inn in 1920 and it's thought she never left.
