Room 302 is the most haunted at this downtown Stowe hotel. Boots Berry, the tap-dancing ghost, was born in this room and died above it when he rescued a little girl on the roof during a snowstorm. Tap dancing can be heard coming from the roof on snowy nights.

4. The Norwich Inn

Go and meet George, the friendly ghost who loves to play pranks on the innkeepers. In fact, the innkeepers became so familiar with this ghost who appeared in a cloak and wide-brimmed hat that it was them who named him George. Well, they had to call him something.

Vermont is filled with many haunted places, including several hotels. One of the most haunted hotels in Vermont is Hotel Coolidge. Hotel Coolidge is located in downtown White River Junction and was renovated in the late 1990s. It was once used as a railway hotel. What makes Hotel Coolidge haunted is the ghost of Ezra "Wrench" Magoon. This man was a farmer and bootlegger who died inside the hotel in the early 1900s.

1. Emily's Bridge

Gold Brook Bridge, which was built in 1844 and has a length of 49 feet, crosses Gold Brook in Stowe, Vermont. Since 1968, many strange occurrences have taken place at this historic covered bridge. Because these strange occurrences involve the spirit of a girl named Emily, the bridge's nickname has become "Emily's Bridge." In 1968, after using an Ouija board on the bridge, a high school student reported seeing Emily.

There are a variety of theories regarding how Emily died on this bridge. One theory is she was waiting for her love so they could leave and elope, but he stood her up. She was devastated and hung herself from the bridge's rafters. Another theory is that Emily arrived at a nearby church to marry her groom and when he didn't show, she was upset and left in the family's horse-drawn wagon. After going too fast and making an unsuccessful turn, Emily's wagon crashed over the bridge and into the water. Today, even though there's no evidence Emily existed, several people have reported the sounds of footsteps, banging, and the screams of a girl.

2. Vermont Police Academy

The Vermont Police Academy is located in the city of Pittsford. The building which houses the academy was once a state hospital that treated tuberculosis patients. According to numerous people, the Vermont Police Academy is haunted by a woman named Mary who was a nurse during the time the building was used as a hospital. Mary treated tuberculosis patients and actually contracted tuberculosis. Supposedly, if you press one of the old call buttons, which are still inside the recruits' rooms, the ghost of Mary will visit you during the night. Don't worry though. She's a friendly ghost.
