Located near Wilmington, the Haystack Mountain Trail has everything from sweeping views across the landscape to beautiful wildflowers in spring. In the summer and fall, the foliage is unreal.
The trail is about four miles and will have you traveling out and back through the woods on Haystack Mountain. It’s a good trail for newbie hikers looking for a bit of a challenge or experienced hikers seeking an easy walking route.
Over the course of the hike, you’ll gain about 1,000 feet in elevation. Along the way, beautiful mossy boulders, gargantuan fallen tree trunks, and trickling streams will enchant you.
Dogs are welcome on the trail as long as they stay on their leash. Smaller children might find this hike challenging, but kids over 10 should have no problem.
