Vermont is the kind of place where we respect the past and try to preserve it as much as humanly possible, and there is one place in Vermont which hasn’t changed too much in the last two centuries. That’s right, the Dorset Union Store just celebrated it’s 200th birthday and the whole town came out to celebrate! Let’s take a closer look at what makes this store so special.
Dorset is famous for being the location of Cephas Kent's Inn, where four meetings of the Convention that signed the Dorset Accords led to the independent Vermont Republic and future statehood. Dorset is home to America's oldest marble quarry and is the birthplace of Bill W., co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous.
This general store, located at 31 Church Street, has seen generations of Vermonters come and go through its doors as it just turned 200 years old!

The Dorset Union Store celebrated on the green across from the premises with a tent, live music, old fashioned games and, of course, the freshly baked treats that the patrons adore.
