Sample Delicious Cheese And Visit Quaint Vermont Towns On This Day-Trip

Two things that Vermont is world-renowned for are cheese and small picturesque towns, and with over 180 dairy farms in Vermont, there is plenty of competition to produce some of the best cheese in the United States. If you are looking for a fun outing in Vermont, make a trip to Hardwick for a day filled with amazing cheese and quaint villages to explore. With charming towns nearby that are lovely to drive through and two of the best dairy farms in Vermont in the surrounding area, Hardwick makes for an excellent place to visit.

The small picturesque town of Hardwick is located roughly 25 miles northeast of Stowe. With a quaint downtown and a friendly village feel, Hardwick is a lovely little town for a stroll.

About 15 minutes from Hardwick, you'll find one of the best and most famous dairy farms in the United States: The Cabot Creamery in Cabot. Although you will not be able to take a tour of the creamery (tours stopped in 2018), you will, however, be able to enjoy samples of their fresh delicious cheese.

There is still a video tour of the cheese-making process. And, after the sampling and video tour, you can wander through the shop where you will find all sorts of other tasty options.

Another fabulous Vermont creamery in the area is the Jasper Hill Farm in Greensboro Bend, Vermont. This underground cheese-aging facility produces an amazing assortment of cheeses.

Unfortunately, there are currently no tours or visiting options at the farm, but you can stop by Willey's Store in Greensboro for a full stock of Jasper Hill Farm cheeses. Pictured here is Jasper Hill Farm's delicious soft cheese called Moses Sleeper.

A trip to Hardwick, with quick stops in Cabot and Greensboro, is a great Vermont experience. You'll have a chance to sample and shop some of the most creamy and delectable cheeses in Vermont while driving through and visiting small, charming Vermont towns.
