However, if you’re a casual hiker looking for a something new and different or you just want to give yourself a bit of a rush, you’ll want to check out this spectacular bridge trail on Mount Mansfield in Vermont. You’ll be so glad you did.

This incredible suspension bridge trail is part of Vermont’s longest and most renowned hiking route: the Long Trail. Luckily, you don’t have to tackle the whole trail to enjoy this thrilling smaller section.

Located in the town of Clarendon, this portion of the Long Trail features a suspension bridge that spans the Clarendon Gorge. Thrill-seekers: this is your stop.

The bridge floats high above the Mill River and is held aloft by a series of cables. Anyone nervous about heights may want to skip this one — unless you feel like conquering your fear!

As you cross the bridge, don’t be surprised to feel it shaking and shuddering beneath you. Though it’s perfectly safe, you’re sure to feel a pleasant lump in your throat as you make your way across.

After safely crossing the bridge, you can also make your way down to the bottom of the gorge for a fun dip in the waters. You’ll want to wear sturdy, grippy shoes for this part.

The water can be pretty chilly in the summer, which makes it the perfect place to cool off after a long day on the trail. Be sure to bring your camera!

You can reach this quick hiking trail via parking lot just off VT 103 south in Clarendon. From the lot, head towards the trailhead marker and make your way into the woods going south. The trail is marked with white indicators and is only about a 0.1-mile journey from the lot. Have fun!
