Here’s a charming general store that’s been open since before the Civil War began, and thanks to a lot of community effort, it’s still open today. You’ll definitely want to pay a visit to the Barnard General Store.
The Barnard General Store opened its doors for business way back in 1832. It's one of the oldest continuously-operating general stores in Vermont, and you can find it at 6134 VT-12, Barnard, VT 05031.
The store is nestled on the banks of Silver Lake, and the views here are incredible! Bring your camera, because this little spot is quite picturesque.
This charming little store is the perfect place to stop in for a tasty meal or snack. Managers Jillian Bradley and Joe Minerva run this place, and they fill it with the most amazing aromas every single day.
Enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast Saturday and Sunday mornings. Check out these banana pancakes with Nutella syrup and whipped cream...yum! There's a different pancake special every weekend, and you'll be hooked the minute you sink your teeth into these fluffy confections.
You'll definitely want to check on the daily lunch special here. Every day, a different sandwich or wrap is featured. Fresh ingredients and creative combinations will make your lunch the best meal of the day.

Barnard General Store nearly closed for good back in 2012, but the community rallied to keep it open, raising over $500,000. Today, the store is a cherished spot for both locals and visitors. It's open every day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m..
