Those of us who call Vermont home are lucky, for we get to enjoy all the phenomenal local products that are made by our talented artisans, chefs, vineyardists, brewers, bakers, and farmers. Any list of Vermont products will no doubt leave out something special to someone, but going for a wide appeal, this list endeavors to enumerate the nine things that Vermonters cannot live without. So, without further ado, here we go!
1. Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream
An obvious first choice, considering the popularity and exquisite taste that Ben & Jerry's has brought to our state and the world. Whether you like swirls and chunks or a simple, creamy ice cream, Ben & Jerry's features flavors for absolutely everyone.
2. Vermont Bread Products
We may not have mastered the croissant like the Parisians, or the rolls like the Germans, but the selection of artisan breads in Vermont is nothing to sniff at. From O Bread Bakery to August First, and Red Hen Bakery to Elmore Mountain Bread, Vermont artisan bread bakers have a lot of crunch to offer.
3. VT Cheese
Who doesn't love Vermont cheese? Our dairy farmers work tirelessly to make some of the most creamy and delectable cheese across the country. A few delicious and notable Vermont creameries are: Cabot Creamery, Shelburne Farms, Three Shepherds of the Mad River Valley, Jasper Hill Farm, Von Trapp Farmstead, Maplebrook Farm, and countless others.
4. 100% Pure Vermont Maple Syrup
Perhaps the product that Vermont is most known for, maple syrup can be found in every Vermonter's pantry. We joke that if someone uses fake syrup, they can't be trusted.
5. Local Vermont Breweries
Vermont's local brewery scene has risen exponentially in the past few decades. Although you might pay a little more, our local breweries produce outstanding and hoppy beer, from the likes of Switchback Brewery, Zero Gravity Brewery, The Alchemist, and others.
6. Lake Champlain Chocolates
The high-quality chocolate of Lake Champlain Chocolates is a favorite among Vermonters. They make unique specialty chocolates, classic bars, and other chocolate goodies.
7. Vermont Vineyards
Producing creative and distinct wines, local vineyards across Vermont offer visitors and customers much more than just great tasting wine; they also offer tours of their beautiful vineyards, wine tastings, and much more. Check out Boyden Valley Winery, Fresh Tracks Farm, Shelburne Vineyard, and Snow Farm Vineyard for a great wine tasting experience.
8. Creemees
You would be hard-pressed to find someone from Vermont who hasn't indulged in a rich, milky creemee. For those who haven't figured it out already, a 'creemee' is soft serve ice cream, or at least that's what they'll tell you. But, a creemee is more than just soft serve, it is altogether its own thing. It diverges from traditional soft serve because of, you guessed it, its level of creaminess.
9. King Arthur Flour
Rounding out the list is King Arthur Flour, a favorite for any serious baker in Vermont. King Arthur Flour has been supplying its happy customers with high-quality flour for over 200 years.
